Titans Grit Out Tough Physical Contest

Jayden Barfuss, Staff Writer

Whenever The Titans take on the Blackfoot Broncos in Boys Basketball it is always a tough, physical chippy game, and this was no different. The Titans edged the Broncos 62-55 to get their 5th win of the season.

The game did not start out well for the Titans as the first quarter they were outscored, but 13-9 Senior Guard Bryson Hawkes led the team with 5 points in the first quarter.

Going into the second quarter the Titans needed a big quarter, and boy did they get one as they outscored the Broncos 14-6 to give the Titans a 23-19 halftime lead. Junior Forward Nick Potter led the Titans in scoring with 6 points.

The 3rd quarter was a higher scoring affair for both teams as the Titans outscored the Broncos 16-12 to take the Titans into the fourth quarter leading 39-31. Hawkes had 5 huge points to lead the Titans in quarter #3.

The fourth and final quarter was the most entertaining quarter of them all as The Broncos fought back and outscored the Titans 24-23 in the fourth, but it was too little too late as the Titans got behind leading scorers Hawkes with 15 points and Potter 13 points, and defeated Blackfoot and went to .500 at 5-5.

Hawkes thought that the win felt really good, especially after the rocky game they played just before this. “It felt really good because we have a very resilient team and come back from adversity”. Hawkes also felt like they handled the adversity against Blackfoot well; “ This game showed that our team was very resilient and able to bounce back.”

The boys will keep on persevering throughout the rest of the season.
