Many sports are anticipating their season this spring at Thunder Ridge High School. After the Corona Virus cancelled their seasons last year, they are looking forward to getting a jump start on their season. Track and Field began their season on Friday, March 12, 2021 with their meet at Mountain Home. The Titans did very well at the first meet. Eliza Hobbs, a junior at Thunder Ridge stated in an interview, “Our first meet of the season was great! Although we didn’t score a lot of points, we ran some really good races, got some really good times and marks that we’ll be able to keep beating for the rest of the season. We even already had a school record broken for boys high jump!” Later on Hobbs gave a high remark for her coaches, “We have such a great set of coaches. All of them are so experienced and great at what they do. Many of them competed on a college level and are amazing athletes. They are great about staying late to help individuals who need some more help and have great pointers on everything from starting to throwing to jumping. Our team is so lucky to have all of them!” Their season is going well with many meets in the future. It sounds like there are high hopes for our track team this year.

Softball and baseball also have started their seasons. The girls played a game on the 16th of March at Thunder Ridge against Skyline. Kynzee  Williams, sophomore, gave the statement, “Our first game was pretty great. Varsity won 12-2 and JV won 17-1. Both teams played really well and did lots of good things. It was a great way to start the season.” However, it seems like the pandemic still has an influence on their team. Williams states, “Corona is still affecting us a little bit. We have had several girls get quarantined or get COVID and not be able to play or come to practice.” Despite their missing teammates the team still fights on and is looking forward to their season this spring. Thunder Ridge has many high hopes for their spring teams this year. Look for times when you can go support these teams this spring.
