Tensions of Russia and Ukraine Increase

Rumors of war between Russia and Ukraine came true on February 24th when Russia launched missiles at multiple Ukraine locations. The build-up tensions between the two countries peaked in 2014 when the Revolution or Dignity came up. The two countries didn’t come to a complete mutual and peace of mind agreement and because of that, they are now at war.

The war has been on every news channel since the missile attack and all are waiting to see what will happen next. TRHS students have been voicing their fears of war and jokingly saying that they will be drafted to war. Others have been very involved in the news and constantly checking to see if anything new has developed. Students have seen multiple viral TikToks from UkrainianTikTokers showing the attacks via TikTok.

Alyssa Fullmer, a junior at TRHS voiced her opinion on the war. Fullmer said, “I hope that things will calm down and that the war doesn’t take as many lives as past ones have.” She was also a part of the worldwide fast that was in honor of Ukraine. The hashtag “I stand with Ukraine” was used when posting about participation or spreading awareness on the fast and war.

Many are wondering how the U.S. will respond to the war if matters get worse. President Biden made a statement that all business with Russia Banks will be frozen. The war has already caused much damage and is yet to see an end.
