The Rookie Bans Live Rounds After Shooting on Rust Set

Calista Nuttall, Staff Writer

The Rookie crew set out a mandate on the use of live weaponry after the accidental shooting on the Rust set in New Mexico.

This is the first show to react to the situation that took place on Thursday, October 21.

The investigation of the shooting is ongoing. The projectile is a suspected live round fired by the actor Alec Baldwin during the rehearsals for Rust. The projectile hit and killed the cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injured another member of the crew. Baldwin didn’t think the gun he was given had any live rounds in it.

The mandate bans the use of any real weapon on set. Thunder Ridge Drama Teacher, Mrs. Cammack stated “I do believe this is for the best.”

Further investigation into the shooting has shown the assistant director didn’t check the gun before giving it to Baldwin. Cammack didn’t think it was too suspicious, because he didn’t think there was a live round in it, either.
