Billboard Music Awards 2022 In Review

The Billboard Music Awards are honors given out annually by Billboard, a publication covering the music business and a music popularity chart. The Billboard Music Awards show has been held annually since 1990, with the exception of the years 2007 through 2010.

The 2022 Billboard Music Awards were held on May 15, 2022, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was hosted by Sean “Diddy” Combs, the show aired live on NBC and was available for streaming on Peacock.

The show was packed with performances by Latto, Megan Thee Stallion, Becky G, Ed Sheeran, Burna Boy, Dan + Shay, Travis Scott, Silk Sonic, Machine Gun Kelly, Morgan Wallen, Ruaw Alejandro, Maxwell, Mary J. Blige, Florence + The Machine, and Elle King & Miranda Lambert.

This award show came with some controversies, however. Over Doja Cat’s win, Morgan Wallen’s insensitive words over the recent Buffalo, NY tragedy, and City Girl’s JT’s wardrobe malfunction.

Beyonce Murillo let out her thoughts, “I liked Mary J’s performance the most. I like her music a lot and seeing her perform was really cool. Wish I could’ve seen it live. I feel like everyone deserves their awards, and I’m happy for all of them.”
