Does Toni Harris Deserve A Scholarship?

Malcom Jensen, Staff Writer

Antoinette “Tori” Harris is a female football player who recently received a college scholarship to play college football for Bethany College, an NAIA school in Kansas.

The question is, does she deserve it? In my opinion, no, she doesn’t, and it’s not because she’s a girl. I don’t care what gender you are, I really don’t.

With that being said, I don’t see why she got the scholarship. If I’m being honest, she isn’t that good. There is plenty of better players that would’ve been better to pick.

She played in 3 games and had 3 tackles all season. There are plenty of better players then her. I hope that college isn’t doing this just to get media attention.

In my opinion, she just doesn’t compare to any of the competition. If she was in the NFL, she would be on the bench. She has talent, but not when she compares to people in the NFL.

Again, this has nothing to do with the fact that she is a girl. I would think the same thing if it was a boy. I have to give her some credit though, she is trying to improve her game.

“A lot of coaches didn’t believe in me,” Harris told ESPN. “A coach told me nobody’s ever going to play you to be at the next level. In the end, you’ve got to push yourself. I’m going to focus on my goals.”

I want to see what she could do, so I’m gonna give her a chance.
