When Is Lagoon Getting A New Ride?

Abby Christensen, Staff Writer

In early 2021, plans were announced for a new rollercoaster at Lagoon Amusement Park, located in Farmington, Utah just three hours south of Idaho Falls. As the closest amusement park to Thunder Ridge, any new attraction is sure to be exciting to any thrill-seekers in this area. This roller coaster is set to be the first new ride for Lagoon in the last seven years. Their newest coaster currently is Cannibal, which made its debut back in July of 2015.

But what can Lagoon goers expect from this new ride, and why has it been such a long time since any type of addition was added to the amusement park? There has been speculation as to the main reason that it has taken the amusement park such a long time to bring its project to fruition.

One big reason is that Lagoon builds their attractions themselves rather than having an outside company come in with a predesigned ride similar to what they do at Six Flags or Busch Gardens, so it takes a lot more time and effort to add a new attraction.

This new ride is not expected to be completed in the 2022 park season, and a park representative has reported that they are aiming to have the project completed sometime during the 2023 season. The ride is going to be larger than Cannibal, and guests can expect the ride to be a blend between steel rollercoaster and screen elements.

However, there has not been any word on this ride in recent months and everything is subject to change until further information is released.
