The newest movie, The Batman, premiered on March 4, 2022.

In this film writer and director, Matt Reeves chose to focus on one element of Batman that’s been there since the beginning but has mostly been unexplored in the previous movies: the Dark Knight as a skilled detective.

The Batman follows the story of Bruce Wayne (Robert Pattison) as he tries to uncover the mystery surrounding a series of murders of Gothman City Officials. The murders at the hands of The Riddler, a sadistic serial killer, who begins murdering key political figures in Gotham.

The question is: did it live up to the hype? According to Thunder Ridge High School Senior and huge Batman fan, Abel Acevedo, “ The Batman is 10/10. You must watch. It is peak fiction.”

This film accomplishes several of the filmmaker’s goals at once. First, it is an engrossing detective story.

Secondly, we get to watch Batman change as he learns the truth about his family is different than he believed.

In the director’s chair for The Batman is Matt Reeves, who focuses on atmosphere, lighting, color palette, and acting to tell his story. He gives many lengthy dialogue scenes that provide us with needed information and fill us in on who these characters are and how they view the world.

The only common complaint about the exciting film is some think it may be too long. Many say there comes a point where the personal conflicts are wrapped up, yet the movie continues.
