The Unproud Boys

Brendan Winkel, Staff Writer

Recently, the leader of the Proud Boys, Enrique Tarrio, was arrested last Tuesday, March 8, along with several other members of the group and the leader of a similar organization called the Oath Keepers. Both of them are politically very far-right groups and have members all over the country.

Tarrio specifically was the chairman of the Proud Boys and was the Florida State Director for the grassroots organization Latinos for Trump. He also supposedly served as a police informant for a short while before turning to politics.

However, these factors couldn’t save him from the wrath that is a courtroom debate. Having been discovered to have participated in the January 6 Capitol Riots, Tarrio was indicted and thrown in prison until another trial could be held soon, which he was then formally arrested.

This is the second time he has been arrested for doing questionable political things, the first being burning down a BLM banner at a historically black church. However, that time he had bail with the condition of being forced to leave Washington D.C., but this time Tarrio is not allowed bail.

Tarrio’s official sentence time is not yet determined.
