Music listeners around the world took a hit when Spotify went down on March 8th. 406 million users around the world were logged out of their accounts and were unable to log back in. 

With the app down listeners went into a frenzy and reported issues around 1 p.m., and kept receiving the message, “You’ve been logged out. Log back in to start listening.” Spotify tweeted in response and said, “Somethings not quite right, and we’re looking into it, thanks for your support.” Due to no music listeners went to Twitter to express their dilemma. @mmiawatson said, “me pretending idc ab spotify not working so that it magically works again”. Many tweets similar were all over Twitter crying out for Spotify to go back online. 

Listeners weren’t the only ones having problems with getting in. Artists that were trying to launch songs were being denied also. They received the message, “We’re all mixed up. Refresh this page or try again later. It may take some time to get things up again.”

Charlotte Zylman, a Junior at TRHS, said, “I was so confused and didn’t know what was going on. I was trying to listen during math class, and I was upset that I couldn’t listen to music.” As an advent Spotify listener and having music be a part of her everyday life, Zylman had a long day without music. 

Spotify went back up after several hours of being offline after 1 p.m. With the problem resolved they tweeted, “Everything is looking much better now! Give @SpotifyCares a shout if you still need help.” Listeners were glad to have their music back and hope that the issue never happens again.
