How Long Has That Spooky Adams Family Been Around?
November 5, 2021
You may have seen the recent The Addams Family movies, but did you know that there are a ton more than you may have thought! This creepy family of four has been around since 1964! The first of the four The Addams Family tv series first aired on Sept. 18 1964; that was 57 years ago! The first live-action film The Addams Family was released November 22, 1991, nearly 30 years ago! Addams Family Values was released in 1993 and Addams Family Reunion was then released in 1998.
The first animated The Addams Family movie was released October 11, 2019, the most recent of the movies. The storyline revolves around the Addams’ moving into their forever home and celebrating Pugsley’s Mazurka. Angry citizens of the town, Assimilation, weren’t very happy with the presence of the Addams on the hill.
The second animated The Addams Family, released October 1, 2021, is following the family’s road trip and Wednesday finding a possible family secret.
No matter which version, the main characters are always Morticia, Gomez, Wednesday, and Pugsley Addams. Other members of the family who can make an appearance throughout the movies are Uncle Fester, Cousin It, Grandmama, Wednesday’s octopus Socrates, and their pet lion, Kitty Kat.
Did you know Snoop Dog voiced Cousin It in both of the recent animated films, and Finn Wolfhard, Mike from Stranger Things, voiced Pugsley in the first animated film?
Iona resident Lauren Tubbs said she had recently watched the two animated The Addams Family movies for the first time. “The second movie’s plot is a little everywhere. It had more plot than the first one, but it works since it’s The Addams Family… I would recommend it to others because it is a good movie.”
