Shooting in Boise Mall

Taylin Lake, Staff Writer

There was a shooting in a mall in Boise on Sunday, October 24 at around 1:50 pm. Police officers say that there are 2 dead and 5 injured. They said that there were only 2 gunshots fired from the gun that the suspect had. As far as they know, there wasn’t any specific motive.

They have the suspect in custody; however, they won’t release any of his information. A fight broke out between the police officers and the suspect, and the suspect is now in critical condition.

Andi Peterson, 25, was at the mall when the shooting happened. She was putting bags in her car and heard a gunshot from inside the building. She said, “I’m from the city – I’m not familiar with the sound of gunshots, My boyfriend, who’s from the country, knew right away.” They locked themselves in a Halloween shop when they said they heard about 10-15 more gunshots. Peterson says that she will never step foot in that mall ever again.

Officers closed a part of the road off so that they could investigate further. Brad Little, Idaho Governor, tweeted that the shooting was “unthinkable”.  Many people are sending their thoughts and prayers out to those who were injured and killed. We keep them in our hearts as their families go through this stage.
