Walt Disney World’s 50th Starts With A Bang
October 21, 2021
Walt Disney World opened on October 1, 1971, to thousands of adoring guests; it was considered one of Walt Disney Company’s greatest successes. 50 years, 3 new parks, and millions of guests later, a lot has changed. But what has stayed the same throughout the years is Disney’s dedication to its craft as the 18-month anniversary celebration starts off with a bang.
To begin the festivities, Cinderella’s Castle in Magic Kingdom was painted from its usual white to a beautiful pink and was decorated in extravagant gold and blue embellishments. Mickey and friends also received some fun new updates with celebratory costumes especially for the 5oth, along with the parade floats they ride on.
In the week before the celebration, the Fab 50 was put on display throughout the four theme parks. The Fab 50 is a series of golden statues of various Iconic Disney characters, like Donald Duck, hidden throughout the parks. The guests get to search and discover where each of the statues are located while in the parks.
Along with these exciting new decorations, many new shows have come to Disney World. Now at Magic Kingdom guests can experience “Disney Enchantment” on Cinderella’s Castle. At EPCOT a new show called “Harmonious” has premiered. Animal Kingdom has received a new daytime show called “Disney KiteTails”. Each of these shows is unique to their park.
New decorations and shows only scratch the surface of what has and has yet to come to Disney World. This 18-month celebration for the 50th Anniversary is nothing short of spectacular. Anyone who is able to attend should consider themselves extremely lucky.
